A disturbing new trend among Christian fellow travelers

Something I have noticed that has been giving me a considerable alarm is the growing trend of Evangelical Christians to detest America making the same mistake as many far left liberals.

The alarming mistake that they are making is that they hold America up to a perfect standard to which no country can compare and condemn America for it. Essentially these Christians detest America and are ingrateful to all that has been given to them by their country. When I confront these Christians with the dual points that America has afforded them the freedom to follow their faith and paid for it with American blood they seem to shrug it off and insist that America is a terrible country. As well they seem not to realise that they are in the most "Christian" nation on Earth and face the easiest most lax challanges to their faith and absolutely no attempts on their life for being Christian as faced by many of their Christian forefathers in years past.

This apparently growing trend has far reaching implications some political, some in regard to the long term success of Christianity and a few that are rather sad and personal.

Sadly, this trend also has major impact upon me for more personal reasons than anything else, the situation in which I'm greatly opposed to many of the beliefs of my fellow Christians is a major issue to me; these differences such as evolution or patriotism can lead to clouding of truely important spiritual issues that need serious redress in my life. I almost cought my self in a frightening de ja vu in which i stated in my head that if these were Christians.... then I stopped myself because I remember stating those exact words when I became an Atheist right after my Church's winter camp, that if those were Christians I dont want to be one. I am struggling this time to seperate the Christians from the Christianity that not all followers of Christ have to be right on everything in order for Jesus Christ to be God. It is quite a struggle.

It is simply something that I ponder with worry on these long lazy summer days and I fear and wonder if the future will come regardless of my opinion on the matter.
